The London Assay Office has announced a new sponsorship arrangement with the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths (IPG), aimed at bolstering skills development and preserving traditional British craftsmanship. This partnership signifies a notable investment in the future of both the IPG and the broader jewellery industry.

The IPG expresses that this collaboration aligns with their steadfast commitment to upholding excellence in craftsmanship and maintaining heritage skills. The sponsorship is expected to enhance the Executive Committee’s capacity to implement its long-term objectives, particularly in advocating for the work of its Fellows, who are recognised as some of the most skilled independent designers and artisans in the sector. Additionally, it promises to enrich the mentorship programme, providing valuable assistance to Associate Fellows as they enhance their skills and work towards achieving full Fellowship status.

Will Evans, director of the London Assay Office, remarked on the initiative: “We are incredibly proud to stand behind The Institute of Professional Goldsmiths. As a self-governing nonprofit, the IPG has shown remarkable dedication in addressing the real, practical needs of master craftspeople. We look forward to supporting their vision and helping safeguard the integrity of British craft.”

This partnership not only exemplifies a commitment to craftsmanship but also highlights the importance of nurturing the next generation of artisans in an industry rich with history and tradition.
