The 56th Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show is currently captivating attendees in Sharjah, with the highlight being the record-breaking “Dubai Dress.” This stunning creation, made from 21-karat gold and weighing an impressive 10.0812 kilograms, is valued at AED 4.6 million and has received formal recognition from Guinness World Records as the heaviest and most expensive gold dress globally.

Designed by Al Romaizan Gold and Jewellery, the “Dubai Dress” comprises several components: a crown weighing 398 grams, a necklace of 8,810.60 grams, earrings at 134.1 grams, and a waist ornament (Hiyar) of 738.5 grams. This intricate ensemble showcases the brand’s dedication to exceptional craftsmanship, following their previous eye-catching display of a gold bicycle priced at Dh1.5 million at past exhibitions.

Held at the Expo Centre Sharjah, this five-day event is the largest of its kind in the region. Organised by Expo Sharjah in collaboration with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the event features over 500 exhibitors and more than 1,800 professionals from across the globe. This year, 68% of the exhibitors have travelled from outside the UAE, bringing a rich diversity of artistry from nations such as Italy, India, Türkiye, the United States, Russia, and several others, including newcomers from Australia and Myanmar. Exhibitors from the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Lebanon, also contribute significantly to the show.

The opening ceremony was led by H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI and Expo Centre Sharjah, accompanied by H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, among other dignitaries and industry representatives. Guests explored the expansive 30,000 square metre exhibition area, visiting prominent booths from Al Romaizan and Salem Al Shueibi Jewellery, where they admired the latest creations. Additionally, the “Emirati Goldsmiths” Platform showcases local designers merging traditional aesthetics with contemporary flair.

Beyond the impressive displays, the exhibition includes an array of workshops, live demonstrations, and engaging competitions, inviting visitors to delve into the latest trends in jewellery design and innovative techniques. Attendees can partake in exciting prize draws, featuring items like an Audi A3 and luxurious gold and diamond pieces, with winners announced at the conclusion of the event.

The exhibition is open to the public at no cost, operating from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, and from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday, ensuring that jewellery lovers have ample opportunity to experience the splendour on offer.
