On 6 March, WatchPro organised its inaugural Women in Watches events, which took place simultaneously in the UK and the USA, attracting over 60 prominent figures from the watch sector in both regions.
The gatherings provided a platform for retailers, brand leaders, and media representatives to engage in meaningful networking and dialogue about the significant contributions of women to the industry’s evolution, focusing on their economic and cultural impact.
A key discussion at the event revolved around the themes of leadership and representation in the watch industry. The panel explored various career trajectories, the importance of visibility, and the inherent structural obstacles faced by professionals within the sector.
Moderated by WatchPro editor May Garland, the panel featured notable industry figures, including Susan Chandler, chief merchandising officer at Citizen Watch America; Caroline Kallman Joffe, director of marketing for the 1916 Company; Tayla Lewis, associate general manager at Time+Tide; and luxury marketing expert Alice Murphy. They addressed the ongoing challenges within the industry while emphasising the potential for brands and retailers to foster more inclusive and varied leadership teams.
