Tiffany and Co. has unveiled its latest high jewellery capsule collection, titled Bird on a Pearl, which seeks to modernise the celebrated Bird on a Rock design created by Jean Schlumberger in 1965.
At the heart of this new collection are exquisite natural saltwater pearls sourced from the esteemed collection of Mr Hussein Al Fardan, recognised as a leading expert in pearls. Tiffany and Co. holds the unique distinction of being the only jewellery brand permitted to incorporate Al Fardan’s pearls into its designs, highlighting the brand’s dedication to these gemstones.
The new collection has been developed under the creative vision of Nathalie Verdeille, the artistic officer at Tiffany and Co. Among the innovations presented is a striking ‘star sapphire head’ design that features sapphires combined with coloured diamonds, enhancing the silhouette of the bird motif.
The Bird on a Pearl brooch draws inspiration from a mid-century piece by Jean Schlumberger, retaining essential characteristics from the original work. Notably, it includes 18k gold ‘flames’ and showcases an exceptionally rare baroque natural pearl, displaying a light orangey-brown hue and weighing over 36 carats.
