The 2025 Sustainability Awards, organised by the Jewellery World Awards (JWA), were presented at a ceremony on September 17 during the Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW) trade fair, which ran from September 15 to 21. Recognised as one of the leading jewellery trade fairs globally, the event is hosted by Informa Markets Jewellery, a prominent trade show and publishing firm.

The Sustainability Awards aim to highlight outstanding initiatives in sustainability across the fine jewellery, gemstone, and associated sectors. This year’s awards featured five key categories: Environmental Stewardship, Community Catalyst, Tech for a Sustainable Future, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, alongside three awards for Sustainability Leadership. The seven winners hailed from diverse regions, including China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, the United States, and Vietnam.

The winners of the awards are as follows:
– Environmental Stewardship Award: Hari Krishna Exports Pvt Ltd
– Community Catalyst Award: Shop LC
– Tech For a Sustainable Future Award: Shenzhen Kinghood Jewelry Manufacturing Co Ltd
– Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award: Nanjing Baojie Technology Co Ltd
– Sustainability Leadership Award: Legor Group SpA
– Sustainability Leadership Award: Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ)
– Sustainability Leadership Award: Valentine Silver International

The winners were initially disclosed in August, with the award ceremony hosted at the Hong Kong Convention & Exposition Centre, one of the primary venues for the JGW fair. Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery, remarked on the rigorous selection process, noting that the competition was incredibly fierce. “Selecting winners proved nearly impossible this year; it was like identifying the brightest star in a dazzling constellation. Our judges deliberated extensively over numerous powerful entries that demonstrated tangible benefits for people, communities and the planet,” she stated.

Lau emphasised that while profitability and sustainability can complement each other, significant change occurs when organisations commit to broader missions. “Organizations are embracing sustainability despite its inherent complexities because they recognize it’s fundamentally the right path forward. Our 2025 Winners and Finalists aren’t just talking about making a difference; they’re actually doing the hard work that matters for our future,” she added.

A distinguished panel of judges facilitated the selection process, which included John Mulligan from the World Gold Council, Brandee Dallow, Caroline Yuan, Andrew Lau, and Jan Porter. Established in 2012, the awards programme was expanded in 2024 to include these Sustainability Awards.

The thirty finalists for this year’s awards were revealed in June, including notable entries such as:
– Environmental Stewardship: Fine Jewellery Manufacturing Ltd, Saskia Shutt Designs
– Community Catalyst: Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group, Mimo Gem Traders Ltd, Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ), Smiling Rocks Limited
– Tech For a Sustainable Future: Nanjing Baojie Technology Co Ltd
– Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: PICS Group Limited
– Sustainability Leadership: Fine Jewellery Manufacturing Ltd, Hari Krishna Exports Pvt Ltd, Paspaley Pearling Company Pty Ltd, and Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt Ltd (SRK).

This recognition not only celebrates excellence but also encourages further innovation and sustainability within the jewellery industry.
