In 2026, the legacy of motorsports continues to inspire the watch industry, particularly with Hamilton’s latest additions to its American Classic collection. This line expands with three new colour variations of the Chronograph H, melding retro aesthetics with contemporary updates.
The Chronograph H is not a new concept for Hamilton, having been initially introduced in 2017 as part of the Intra-Matic Chronograph H series. This release represented a revival of hand-wound mechanical chronographs. The model was revisited in 2021 and featured classic panda and reverse panda colour options. Since its debut, this collection has gained a loyal following, largely due to its nods to heritage and its appeal derived from the auto-racing styles of the 1960s.
The watch maintains a 40mm wide and 14.3mm thick stainless steel case, reminiscent of the original Chronograph H. Key design elements such as polished surfaces, faceted lugs, a gently sloping bezel, pump-style pushers, and a knurled crown emphasize its vintage charm. A domed sapphire crystal complements the design, along with a solid caseback at the rear.
New additions to the dial palette include matte blue, warm brown, and hunter green, each featuring a smoky gradient finish. Improvements to readability are enhanced with silver subdials, a tachymeter scale, and the use of beige Super-LumiNova on both the hands and markers. Depending on the model, contrasting elements such as bright orange or black chronograph hands enhance the overall aesthetic.
The watch is powered by Hamilton’s H-51 movement, which boasts a 60-hour power reserve. Unlike the earlier Calibre 11 used in previous Hamilton models, the H-51 is designed with a focus on reliability alongside an engaging winding experience.
Each of the new Chronograph H models is accompanied by a perforated leather strap and an additional stainless steel mesh bracelet, retailing at £1,980 or $2,445, available through hamiltonwatch.com.
