Full Story
Material Good, a luxury retailer from New York, has recently announced its partnership with Daniel Roth watches, however, the prestigious timepieces will be available in Miami, Boston, and Dallas rather than its prominent SoHo flagship store.
Founded over a decade ago, Material Good is known for its exclusive selection of rare watches, both new and pre-owned, as well as other luxury items such as art, handbags, and jewellery. In addition to being an authorised dealer for brands like Biver, Vanguart, and H. Moser & Cie., the retailer has garnered a reputation for its extensive inventory of pre-owned high-end watches from renowned manufacturers including Richard Mille, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Rolex.
The opulent private lounge in Material Good’s SoHo location is likely a nod to the off-street concept popularised by AP House, providing a luxurious space for collectors and enthusiasts.
**The Legacy of Daniel Roth**
Daniel Roth, a prominent figure in the watchmaking industry, launched his brand in 1988 after refining his craft at Breguet. He quickly gained recognition for his exquisitely detailed, uniquely shaped high-complication watches, notably including tourbillons and perpetual calendars. Despite his remarkable technical and artistic mastery, Roth faced challenges on the business side, leading to the brand’s acquisition by The Hour Glass in 1994, which has since become Asia’s leading luxury watch retailer.
In 2000, the brand transitioned to Bulgari, where it remained inactive until 2023, when leadership was transferred to La Fabrique du Temps, noted for producing LVMH watches. The first offering from this new phase was a Tourbillon Souscription, which creatively reimagined the brand’s iconic complication from its independent days.
