Full Story

Two renowned fashion houses have introduced strikingly distinctive yet thematically resonant timepieces, showcasing a blend of vivid colours, celestial motifs, and sparkling diamonds.

The contemporary designs epitomise the intersection of high-end watchmaking and luxurious fashion.

In response to the growing trend for spectacular accessories that rival traditional jewellery, both Tiffany & Co. and Dior are enhancing their offerings with increased elements of diamond embellishment, intricate gemstone settings, and compelling narratives.

Tiffany & Co.’s latest creation, ‘The Starfish,’ is part of their Blue Book 2025: Sea of Wonder collection. This limited edition watch honours the legacy of esteemed designer Jean Schlumberger, taking cues from a pearl and diamond Starfish brooch found in the brand’s archives.

The timepiece features two rotating starfish positioned within a sparkling diamond-set outer ring. To maximise its brilliance, the case is encrusted with a variety of round full-cut diamonds, almost entirely covering its surface.

The reverse side displays an engraved sunburst design, influenced by Schlumberger’s iconic Floral Arrows brooch.

This remarkable piece comprises 891 diamonds, amounting to nearly six carats, and is complemented by a striking red alligator strap.

Harnessing Swiss craftsmanship, the watch is powered by a self-winding movement developed in the heart of horology.

With a 39mm case, it includes a traditional crown for winding and setting the time, thoughtfully designed to reflect the Tiffany Setting synonymous with their famed diamond engagement rings. It also features a prong-set solitaire diamond exceeding 0.47 carats.

On the other hand, Dior has introduced the ‘Grand Bal Cirque de Monsieur Dior’ watch, reflecting a different narrative as it draws inspiration from the circus.

This novel piece marks an evolution in the Dior Grand Bal collection, characterised by designs that evoke the fluidity and elegance of a ball gown.

It incorporates the Dior Inversé calibre and a visible oscillating weight atop the dial, crafted with meticulous attention to aesthetic detail to mirror the lavishness characteristic of Christian Dior’s creations.

Continuing the theme of diamonds, this watch is embellished with sparkling stones, pink mother-of-pearl, and an array of vibrant gemstones.

Completing the circus motif, the translucent caseback features purple sapphire with pink-gold metallisation illuminating the stars.

Slightly more compact than Tiffany’s offering, the Dior timepiece features a 36mm case, offers 30 meters of water resistance, and is accompanied by a pink patent calfskin strap.

Tiffany & Co.’s ‘The Starfish’ is available at a price upon request via their website, while the Dior ‘Grand Bal Cirque de Monsieur Dior’ is priced at £31,000.
