Swiss watch manufacturer Favre Leuba has celebrated a significant achievement in its 288-year history with the launch of the Chief Skeleton, which marks the brand’s inaugural foray into skeletonised timepieces.
Drawing inspiration from the brand’s signature cushion-shaped Chief case first introduced in the 1970s, this new model modernises the classic design using advanced technical expertise.
At its heart lies Favre Leuba’s inaugural openwork manufacture movement, developed in collaboration with AMT. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement provides a power reserve of 41 hours and has been specifically designed to showcase its inner workings.
The watch features a partially exposed barrel at 12 o’clock and a visible balance wheel at 6 o’clock, creating a captivating visual effect. The aesthetic is enhanced by a combination of brushed and sandblasted finishes.
Two movement variations are offered: the FLS01, presented in an elegant gold finish, and the FLS02, featuring a striking anthracite hue with a black DLC coating. Both versions showcase openworked bridges, a specially crafted balance wheel, and a skeletonised rotor adorned with the Favre Leuba logo, all observable through the sapphire caseback.
The Chief Skeleton is encased in a 40mm cushion-shaped design with a thickness of 11.76mm, available in either stainless steel or a black DLC variant. The case artfully combines brushed and polished elements beneath a gently curved sapphire crystal.
Complementing the timepiece is an FKM rubber strap that integrates seamlessly with the watch, offered in shades of blue, green, black, or ice blue. An innovative quick-change system allows for easy strap swaps, while SuperLuminova-coated markers and hands ensure visibility both day and night.
