Chronoswiss has introduced three exclusive variants of its unique Neo Digiteur watch, showcasing pastel colours that enhance its unconventional digital display. These new editions, named Pastel Code, are available in Rose, Mint, and Sky, with each colour limited to just 99 pieces.
Building upon the earlier Neo Digiteur model, which reintroduced one of Chronoswiss’ most innovative designs—a mechanical watch devoid of standard hour and minute hands—this launch merges modern aesthetics with classic functionality.
The original Digiteur, the brainchild of Chronoswiss founder Gerd-Rüdiger Lang, was first introduced in 2005. Two decades later, the brand has revitalised this design, preserving its distinctive timekeeping structure while updating the overall look to appeal to contemporary tastes.
This innovative timepiece employs three distinct indicators for telling time: a jumping hour showcased at 12 o’clock, sweeping minutes prominently displayed at the centre, and sweeping seconds visible through a horizontal window at 6 o’clock. This approach has led Chronoswiss to describe the watch as a mechanical digital regulator—achieving a digital-style appearance powered entirely by mechanical components without reliance on electronics.
In the new Pastel Code editions, the traditional rectangular stainless-steel case and architectural styling are complemented by softer hues across the dial. The Rose version features a delicate pink, while Mint presents a light green, and Sky showcases a gentle blue.
Chronoswiss aims to create a striking contrast between the watch’s technical nature and its pastel aesthetics, asserting that while the colours may appear softer, the watch’s character remains robust. The dials acquire a vibrant matte finish through a method involving sandblasting and lacquer treatment, which enhances the depth of the pastel shades.
The tailored rectangular case, redesigned by Chronoswiss’ Atelier Lucerne, maintains its distinctive barrel shape with sharp lines and polished edges, complemented by a sandblasted section on the side.
Internally, each watch is powered by the hand-wound Chronoswiss Caliber C.85757, associated with the brand’s original postal code from 1983. This movement operates at a frequency of 3Hz and boasts a 48-hour power reserve. It includes a proprietary Chronoswiss module designed to optimise energy usage for the jumping-hour function while managing the minute and second discs.
For these Pastel Code editions, a complete Côtes de Genève finish has been applied to the movement, replacing the hand-guilloché decoration found on earlier Neo Digiteur anniversary editions. A uniquely shaped sapphire crystal case back not only displays the intricate movement but also nods to the Fleurier-style movements integrated into the initial 2005 Digiteur model.
Chronoswiss is marketing these new watches as a modern interpretation of its classic designs rather than merely a colour variation, using the pastel palette to inject a playful element into its unconventional mechanical display. Each of the Neo Digiteur Pastel Code editions will be strictly limited to 99 pieces.
