NAJ issues new guidance on jewellery design and intellectual property protections

The National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) has released new guidance on Design Replication and Intellectual Property, underlining the importance of protecting the originality of jewellery designs. The guidance outlines legal protections available, while encouraging businesses to take proactive steps in managing their IP throughout the supply chain. It offers practical due diligence measures to help mitigate risks of infringement, promoting responsible and ethical practices within the industry. NAJ’s Compliance and Policy Manager, Katie Gillespie, emphasized that while no checklist can guarantee freedom from infringement, a thorough approach can significantly bolster a business’s position and reduce legal risks. The guidance is now available to NAJ members and the wider jewellery trade.
