Full Story
Hermès has unveiled the Slim d’Hermès Squelette Lune, the latest enhancement to its popular Slim d’Hermès watch line, which debuted in 2015.
Renowned for its crisp aesthetics and angular lugs, the original Slim d’Hermès became a significant platform for artistic expression in watch design. The most recent iteration arrived in 2024, showcasing a collection inspired by the four seasons, featuring elaborate and artistic dials. In a departure from seasonal themes, Hermès now draws inspiration from celestial bodies, integrating a skeleton dial alongside a dual moon phase indicator while maintaining its established design ethos.
The watch artfully represents the lunar phases for both the Northern and Southern hemispheres, positioned at the six o’clock mark. Its openworked dial allows for a full view of the mechanical movement, creating a dynamic visual depth that contrasts with the minimalist design of earlier models. The surface is enhanced by a sunburst anthracite finish, elegantly paired with baton-style hands and a printed minute track.
Available in a 39.5mm case crafted from either grade 5 titanium or platinum, the watch features a bezel made from corresponding materials. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective properties safeguards the face, while the reverse showcases the movement through a sapphire caseback.
At the heart of this timepiece is the exceptionally slender Manufacture Hermès H1953 movement. This self-winding skeleton calibre, measuring a mere 3.57mm thick, integrates a micro-rotor and provides a robust 48-hour power reserve along with water resistance up to 30 metres, managing the hours, minutes, and double moon phase display.
No aspect is left unattended; even the bridges are meticulously finished in hues that coordinate with the dial, visible through the caseback.
The Slim d’Hermès Squelette Lune is complemented by a selection of straps made from matte alligator or Barénia calfskin, reflecting Hermès’ distinguished legacy in leather craftsmanship.
