Full Story
Piaget has unveiled the Polo 79 Two-Tone, the latest addition to its luxury sports watch collection, emphasizing the brand’s dedication to crafting timepieces from precious metals.
Originally introduced in 1979, the Piaget Polo gained recognition for its unique features, including an integrated bracelet, horizontal gadroons, and its fully gold construction. In 2024, to celebrate Piaget’s 150th anniversary, the brand revitalised the Polo with the release of the Polo 79 in yellow gold, which subsequently received the “Iconic Watch” accolade at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. In 2025, a white gold variant was introduced, offering a subtler aesthetic while embodying the current trend toward vintage-inspired designs.
The newly launched Polo 79 Two-Tone elegantly combines yellow and white gold, reflecting one of the original models from 1979. In contrast to many bi-colour watches that incorporate steel, this model is exclusively made of precious metals. Its 38mm case and integrated bracelet feature brushed white gold, complemented by polished yellow gold gadroons that add richness and depth to its appearance.
The solid gold dial adheres to the original design ethos with its dimensions and stylistic choices. It includes a dotted minute track around the edge to enhance readability. While it may not be the most straightforward dial to interpret, the polished yellow gold dauphine hands aid in time-telling, raising the question of whether anyone truly relies on a watch solely for that purpose.
Beyond its visual appeal, the Polo 79 Two-Tone showcases an impressive movement. The watch is equipped with Piaget’s calibre 1200P1, an ultra-thin automatic movement featuring a micro-rotor. At merely 2.35mm in thickness, this movement contributes to the watch’s slender profile, with a power reserve of approximately 44 hours. Additionally, the watch is water-resistant up to 50 metres and comes with sapphire crystals adorning both sides of the case.
Priced at €96,000, this latest creation highlights Piaget’s commitment to luxurious watchmaking. For more details, visit piaget.com.
