The Rolex boutique on Buchanan Street in Glasgow has recently reopened after an extensive renovation, during which its space was increased significantly. The refurbishment conducted by the Watches of Switzerland Group has transformed the store, which now covers over 6,600 square feet across two floors, nearly twice the size of the original establishment that launched in July 2020.
The redesigned boutique includes a new Rolex Certified Pre-Owned section and a dedicated Rolex Authorised Service Centre, enhancing the shopping experience for customers by providing a broader range of services and products, all under one roof.
Brian Duffy, the chief executive officer of The Watches of Switzerland Group, expressed his pride in the expansion, noting its personal significance as a Glasgow native. “It is a privilege to contribute to Glasgow’s continued growth and vibrancy,” he stated. He emphasized that this expansion demonstrates both the group’s faith in the city and their commitment to an exceptional customer experience.
The redesigned store aims to foster individual customer interactions, with Duffy remarking, “The boutique has been thoughtfully designed around the personal nature of the Rolex journey. More than a retail destination, it is a space where lasting relationships can be built, milestones celebrated, and clients can immerse themselves in a world that reflects the prestige, craftsmanship, and significance of every Rolex timepiece.”
The aesthetics of the boutique harmoniously blend Rolex’s traditional design elements with luxurious materials such as Verde Alpi marble and textured stucco. A striking chandelier inspired by Rolex’s iconic Cyclops lens greets visitors in the entrance area, while a travertine staircase leads to additional facilities on the upper floor.
The additional space allows for an enriched customer experience, where visitors have ample opportunity to explore the collection and engage with knowledgeable sales staff. There are also private consultation facilities to facilitate personalized service.
With the incorporation of the Certified Pre-Owned section, the boutique now extends its offerings beyond new watches. Moreover, the on-site authorised service centre staffed by Rolex-trained watchmakers enables customers to access maintenance services directly, complete with a viewing window into the workshop to observe the meticulous servicing process.
This reopening marks a significant chapter in the enduring relationship between The Watches of Switzerland Group and Rolex, a partnership that has roots dating back to 1919, beginning with the Northern Goldsmiths showroom in Newcastle. The recent investment reaffirms the group’s confidence in Glasgow as a key component of its UK retail strategy, combining sales, certified pre-owned options, and servicing in one of the city’s key shopping areas.
