Full Story
Anglo American has announced that it has valued its subsidiary, De Beers, at $2.3 billion (£1.68 billion), a significant decrease from the $4.1 billion (£3 billion) valuation reported the previous year.
In its 2025 annual results, the London-based mining corporation attributed the substantial decline in De Beers’ worth, amounting to $1.8 billion (£1.34 billion) before taxes and other deductions, to revised forecasts for both short- and long-term diamond prices. The company indicated that the adjustments are related to market conditions affecting platinum, compounded by the decision to sell its residual stake in the subsidiary in September.
Anglo American also highlighted ongoing developments, including the progression of the sale of its Steelmaking Coal division, and the Nickel business transaction, which is currently awaiting regulatory approval. Additionally, the firm is continuing its strategic efforts towards the separation of De Beers.
