Full Story

Dior has unveiled an exclusive high-end version of its Chiffre Rouge watch, limited to just eight pieces and operating on the esteemed El Primero automatic chronograph movement.

Since its debut in 2004, the Chiffre Rouge has been lauded for its bold design, characterised by a round case featuring a unique ‘cut’ that results in a strikingly asymmetric silhouette.

The design elements include a crown placed at 4 o’clock — a rarity in the world of Swiss watchmaking — and the incorporation of red, a hallmark colour of Dior that consistently reflects its brand identity.

In celebration of the collection’s 20th anniversary, Dior has reimagined the Chiffre Rouge, infusing a sporty elegance that modernises its classic features, prominently highlighted by the use of the famous cannage pattern associated with the brand.

This new limited edition signifies a noteworthy advancement in haute horlogerie for the series, as it represents the first chronograph iteration at this exceptional level, distinguishing it from previous models that exclusively housed tourbillion mechanisms.

Crafted with a white-gold bezel adorned with 60 baguette-cut diamonds totalling 2.88 carats, the watch also includes a polished white-gold bumper on the case’s right side, a distinctive hallmark of the Chiffre Rouge line.

The 41mm case is fashioned from steel with a black DLC coating and has a thickness of 14.3mm. It encases the CD.001 automatic movement, which operates at a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour and boasts a power reserve of 50 hours, featuring chronograph capabilities for seconds, along with 30-minute and hour counters.

Further specifications of the watch reveal a black brass dial embellished with a stamped cannage pattern, a red chronograph seconds hand, and a red push-button at 4 o’clock for activating and resetting functions. Additional features include black gold-coloured hands and hour markers, a water resistance rating of up to 100 metres, and a black alligator leather strap equipped with an interchangeable system and a DLC-coated folding buckle with micro-adjustment functionality.
