Full Story
Citizen has unveiled a new collection of limited-edition ATTESA watches, drawing inspiration from the red hue of the ‘blood moon’ anticipated during a total lunar eclipse.
Scheduled to be visible in Japan at 8:04 PM on 3 March 2026, this celestial phenomenon has spurred the creation of two distinct models within the collection titled Shades of Red. These timepieces not only showcase eye-catching designs but also highlight some of Citizen’s sophisticated Eco-Drive technology.
The flagship model, the ATTESA CC4077-71Z, is equipped with Citizen’s prestigious Cal.F950 Eco-Drive Satellite Wave GPS movement. The watch features a striking wine-red dial, achieved by layering a red-tinted moon motif above a mother-of-pearl base, giving the display a depth and brilliance that reflects the moon’s appearance. Surrounding the dial is a deep red sapphire ring bezel, with silver names of capital cities imprinted on an inner bezel that contrasts against a dark red background.
This model, which boasts a 44.6mm case and bracelet constructed from Citizen’s renowned Super Titanium with Duratect DLC, is designed to be both lightweight and highly resistant to scratches. Limited to just 1,800 units globally, it carries a price tag of £1,595.
The second model within the collection, the ATTESA BY1005-73Z, features the Cal.H874 Eco-Drive movement, which incorporates Citizen’s Luna Program for an automatic moonphase function. Its dial recreates the eclipse with a unique red metal deposition on the moon phase disc, set against a shimmering, pearlescent backdrop reminiscent of the night sky. A thoughtful layered dial construction and a textured moon add dimension to this piece.
Also made from Super Titanium, this 41.5mm watch is limited to 2,200 pieces and is priced at £995.
Each timepiece is equipped with a sapphire crystal, world time functions, a perpetual calendar, luminous hands and indices, and offers 100 metres of water resistance. Additionally, select components of the dials utilise recycled materials, aligning with environmentally conscious practices.
