Seiko has made a bold entry into 2026 by unveiling two new watch models this week.
The first of these releases is the Prospex Speedtimer ‘Youngtimer’, a solar-powered chronograph that draws design inspiration from the iconic sports cars of the late 20th century. This model is rooted in the design of the well-received Seiko SSC813 and retains the beloved panda dial style, featuring black subdials contrasted against a lighter main dial.
Its sleek case design pays homage to the Seiko Speedtimer chronographs from the late 1960s and early 1970s, the first of which debuted in 1969 as one of the earliest automatic chronographs in existence. Unlike its predecessor, which utilised a mechanical movement, the ‘Youngtimer’ is equipped with Seiko’s proprietary V192 solar movement, capable of harnessing both natural and artificial light. When fully charged, this movement provides an impressive power reserve of six months.
With a water resistance of up to 100 metres and accurate elapsed time tracking capabilities, the watch is available in monochrome, mint green, and pale pink variations, retailing at £640.
The second model launched by Seiko is the Presage ‘Springtime’ Cocktail Time Limited Edition, which marks the first time a watch in the Cocktail Time series has featured a mother-of-pearl dial.
Limited to 9,000 pieces, this watch celebrates Japanese cocktail culture, drawing inspiration from Tokyo’s Star Bar in Ginza. Its design incorporates subtle elements reminiscent of the “Sakura Aviation” cocktail, crafted by the esteemed bartender Hisashi Kishi.
The mother-of-pearl dial showcases a delicate pink vertical gradient meant to evoke the beauty of cherry blossoms, complemented by rose gold-coloured hands, indices, and crown. The watch is paired with a two-tone bracelet, adding a touch of elegance to its overall aesthetic.
Initially introduced in 2016, the Seiko Presage collection focuses on the fusion of traditional craftsmanship with accessible pricing in mechanical dress watches. While most Cocktail Time models typically feature larger cases with patterned sunburst dials, this particular edition is distinguished by its 34mm case and lustrous finish.
Powered by Seiko’s 4R35 automatic calibre, the watch is priced at £540, offering a 40-hour power reserve along with a date function.
