Full Story

Berry’s Jewellers has selected The Brain Tumour Charity as its charity partner for 2026, committing to support it through various fundraising initiatives involving both the company and its employees.

Based in Leeds, Berry’s Jewellers has enhanced its charitable efforts in recent years by establishing the Berry’s Charity Scheme. This initiative is led by Simon Oxby, the head of operations, and managed by a committee of five members who evaluate and select their annual charitable focus.

Each year, the Jewellers make a concerted effort to engage their staff in fundraising activities, promoting a culture of practical support for the chosen charity. “We maximise impact by focusing on one charity and ensuring as many of our staff get involved with the company fundraising as possible. We try to ensure any partnership we have with the charity is a two-way affair, and we have staff who have volunteered for the charities and donate items and presents,” Mr Oxby said.

Mr Oxby elaborated on the internal communications process, stating, “Any information that the various charities have sent us is cascaded down throughout the business, just in case any of our staff or their friends or family need support directly from the charities. We keep staff informed of our fundraising progress and in 2025 set each store a target.”

Customers also have the opportunity to contribute to the selected charities through collection tins placed in-store.

The decision to partner with The Brain Tumour Charity for 2026 follows a personal connection, as a member of Berry’s team was diagnosed with a brain tumour the previous year. “We always try and choose a charity that has touched some of our staff, their families or friends. This year’s choice is particularly close to all of our hearts, as one of our staff was diagnosed with a brain tumour. This will drive us to beat our best fundraising total yet,” Mr Oxby predicted.

Over the past years, Berry’s Jewellers and its staff have collectively raised more than £100,000 for various charitable organisations, including:

– 2020: The Give Duck Charity (Children’s Cancer Care) – £6,100
– 2021: Dementia UK – £12,791
– 2022: Parkinson’s UK – £29,747
– 2023: Mind – £14,053
– 2024: Samaritans – £14,917
– 2025: Children’s Heart Surgery Fund – £26,000
