Luxury jeweller Pragnell has unveiled a new collection that highlights exquisite purplish pink garnets sourced from an artisanal mining community in Tanzania. The Kitulo garnet range, which premieres this autumn, reflects Pragnell’s dedication to responsible mining practices and sustainable sourcing.
The gemstones, named after the Kitulo National Park in southern Tanzania—often referred to as Bustani Ya Mungu, or God’s Garden—feature a distinctive soft purplish pink shade that echoes the park’s vibrant wildflower fields. Pragnell is collaborating directly with small-scale miners to select the finest stones for its jewellery, ensuring that each gem meets the company’s high standards for colour and vibrancy.
At the heart of the collection is a 10.52-carat oval-cut Kitulo garnet ring, elegantly set in 18-carat yellow gold, adorned with a flowing arrangement of diamonds along the band. The design draws inspiration from the flower-draped scenery of the Kitulo Plateau.
Every item in the collection has been meticulously handcrafted in Pragnell’s workshop in England, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship and quality associated with the renowned Pragnell Seal.
The launch of the Kitulo garnet range represents a significant advance in Pragnell’s initiative to forge closer ties with artisanal miners, ensuring a transparent and sustainable approach to gemstone sourcing.
