Full Story

A new documentary series titled “Man of the Hour,” which delves into the lives and creations of independent watchmakers, is set to stream in the United States starting January 9. The series previously premiered in Asia and the Middle East in November.

Comprising eight episodes, the series is hosted by Wei Koh, the founder of Revolution magazine, and presents an in-depth examination of the craft, innovation, and personal narratives that define contemporary watchmaking.

Initially launched on Discovery Taiwan and Discovery South East Asia, “Man of the Hour” will transition to Discovery+ for its American audience. The show’s European release date remains unannounced.

Each episode spotlights a specific watchmaker and their brand, beginning with Francois Paul Journe from F.P. Journe. The series subsequently introduces viewers to renowned names within the industry, including Chopard, De Bethune, Urban Jürgensen, Rexhep Rexhepi, Greubel Forsey, Louis Vuitton, and MB&F.

In conjunction with the series’ U.S. premiere, a companion podcast called “After Hours,” featuring in-depth discussions on the watchmakers profiled in each episode, will also launch this weekend.

Looking ahead, plans for a second season are already in motion, with filming anticipated to commence in spring. This upcoming season will highlight more established Swiss brands, with Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin confirmed to participate, and a potential behind-the-scenes look at Rolex being considered.
